CHOOSING A RACEPAK DATA RECORDER

If this is your initial foray into the world of data acquisition you may have been surprised to find that there are many different models of data recorders to choose from. There is no simply no one-size-fits-all when it comes to data recorders. Since we encounter customers who struggle with that dilemma on a daily basis, we have created the charts below to take a little of the confusion out of the selection process.

To determine which type of recorder is best suited for your particular needs, a conventional recorder (Pro I-A, Pro II), one of the new V-Net recorders (V50, V300, or V500), or possibly just a recording gauge (Hot Tach Pro, Avenger III), just follow the simple selection process outlined below.

To locate the data recorder best suited to your application first locate the chart below for the type of ignition system you are using, either battery or magneto. If you are using a magneto you will next need to find the columns for the type of spark plug wire being used:

Reading down the left side of the chart find your type of vehicle, or the type that most closely resembles your application.

Reading across the row from your application you will find check marks in the columns for the Racepak data recorders that are most often used for your type of racing. A blank box indicates that this type of recorder is not normally used for this application.
