Are there any special procedures for adding Intelli Gauges to a RED G2X? The two sensor modules that I just added read in just fine but the two gauges don't read in to Datalink or do anything when hooked up. I have the Vnet to Gauge cable hooked in and the gauge to gauge cable, also the black termination cap. There are no opens right now for the Vnet cap either. Is there a certain order of install to daisy chain them together? I've tried about every combination I can think of. The gauges are used but no damage whatsoever and I doubt both would be DOA. Perhaps a bad cable? Are there any test/voltage checks I can perform?

Also do the gauges count toward the input limit of 12? I have already added a Air Fuel sensor and a USM but that is it. So would that be a total of seven inputs (counting the two new sensor modules of oil pressure & water temperature)? Or would that make a total of nine?

Another question, if I were to add a IQ3 display dash to my G2X red, can I run both the G2X dash & the IQ3 display dash at the same time? (just curious for future upgrade purposes) Does this affect the amount of total inputs too?

Messed with this a little more last night.

I fully charged the race car battery. Gauges still won't power up even tried one at a time, but G2X is fine.

I tried wiggling/pushing on all the VNET connections (there are now like four or five sandwiched together). - Nothing.
I ended up wiggling/pushing on the Intelligauge cable end gauge side (black connector) and the G2X fuse blows.

I replace the 7.5amp with a 10amp fuse thinking maybe the current draw of a new gauge could be the issue? I then push/wiggle the intelligauge cable end, and now the 10amp fuse blows.

Thinking bad gauge, I swap to the other gauge and replace the fuse and it does the same thing as soon as I wiggle/push the connector. I looked for any bent pins on either gauge or harness side and they all are straight.

SO I'm thinking it's got to be one of these things.

1)I'm not getting a good connection with the Intelligauge cable and when I fully seat it, the amp draw is too much and blows the 10amp fuse. Should I replace with a higher wattage fuse? I'm leary because the gauges don't even power up for a second before the fuse pops.

2)There is a problem inside the Intelligauge/Vnet cable and I need to replace this cable. Doubt it is a gauge issue because I was able to duplicate the fuse blowing on either Intelligauge.

???

It sounds like either a jumper cable or gauge to cable issue. If you just connect one gauge to the G2X, does it blow the fuse..then if you replace that gauge with a second one, does it also blow the fuse? Repeat the process to verify if it is a single gauge causing the problem, one of the jumper cables or the actual jumper to Vnet cable..it will take a few fuses to find the problem..but it will eventually reveal itself. You would not want to use a larger fuse.

Thanks

Tim

Yes it is blowing the fuse with only one gauge hooked up. Did not matter which intelligauge. Only when you push/wiggle the vnet to gauge cable on the gauge side. If you don't push on the cable end, the single gauge will not power up or do anything. I will probably be ending up ordering a new vent to gauge cable.

What is the recommended fuse size for a red G2X, with a USM, air fuel module, and two gauges hooked up? Should I go back to 7.5 amp or should it be lower?

Just thought I'd update it case anyone is wondering. Turned out I had two bad Intelligauge cables. The Vnet to Intelligauge and the Gauge to Gauge cable. The wires internally are very small and easily pulled out of their individual terminals if your not careful disconnecting them from the Gauges as the harness is built to be weatherproof and provide a very positive seal.

Now I gotta figure out my why my newly added USM Oil temp sensor is not reading correctly but I will probably just call that one in.....
