Do you have an updated version of instructions for loading the V300SD onto newer PC's with windows 7? Looks like the version you have online and the one that came with the unit is dated 2008. We are having problems getting our PC to locate the correct com (USB) port using the adapt included with the package.

Thanks you
Weldon

Weldon,

Is this when trying to read the v net? Providing you installed the USB adaptor to your computer the software has a built in com port scanner. If you have old software you will want to update to the newest version located in the downloads section of our website. This newer version will scan up to 250 ports.

We just purchased the V300SD about a month ago. It came with the 3.8 version of software. When we go to the system to locate the com port, it says it can only be used with XP, W2000 and vista, not win 7. I am not great with PC's, just an old dog racer so this is new to us. If we call the tech line while we have the PC connected to the Racepak, would they be able to walk us through?

This should help.

- right click on the "my computer" icon located on your desktop
- select "device manager"
- in the pane on the right, look for an icon titled "Ports (COM & LPT)"

With your usb to serial (DB9) connector you should see the COM PORT listed as in use, you can use this number to enter into your Racepak setup screen.

You'll know it's for sure the COM PORT you need if you un-plug the USB to Serial (DB9) adapter and you see it go away from the Computer Management screen in Device Manager.

Hope this helps, tried to not make it "geek talk"

Richard
