I am working with a new Pro 1B system on a TAFC. Being somewhat familiar with thermocouples from use in industrial furnaces, I am wondering what type of TC's these are (type E, J, K, or ?), and if they are accurate below 400 deg. F? Have had some discussions about starting line temps, and whether to ignore readings below a certain temp. Thanks -

Carcrafter,

These are K-type thermocouples, and their accuracy is 4 degrees per thousand, so at the maximum reading of around 2000 degrees, they would be off no more than 8 degrees. They will still be accurate at 400 degrees. The only time they may be slightly inconsistent is when they are at or near ambient temperature, as the voltage differential may only be a few millivolts between the sensor and its reference voltage, resulting in possible fluctuations of about 10-20 degrees. After about a 30 degree differential from ambient, the effect is virtually zero.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Todd
